Avalokiteshvara
(Tibetan:
Chenrezig)
Bodhisattva of Compassion
Protector of
Tibet
The Avalokiteshvara amulet
protects from danger,
diminishes fears,
answers prayers, gives positive energy,
helps to be
patient and improves
concentration.
This unique Tibetan Buddhist amulet
for protection from the Bouddhanath Stupa in Nepal
contains the mantra
of Avalokiteshvara:
"OM
MANI PADME HUM"
The mantra has been stamped on
paper, immersed in saffron water,
folded and
wrapped in silk thread and blessed by a Tibetan Buddhist
Lama.
The Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara represents endless love and compassion. He holds his first 2
arms folded in front of his heart thus symbolizing that all Buddhas protect sensitive beings
against suffering. In his right hand he holds a crystal rosary which symbolizes his possibility
to alight from Samsara and reminds the believers to recite his mantra. In his left hand he holds
the stem of the Utpala flower which symbolizes his pure motivation. It is said that the Dalai
Lama is a reincarnation of Avalokiteshvara.
It is
widely assumed that reciting Avalokiteshvaras
mantra
OM
MANI PADME HUM is not only good for oneself but for
all sentient
beings.
